If I Could Create a GOTY . . .

For those of you who don’t know, GOTY stands for Girl of The Year. And for those of you who aren’t entirely familiar with AG, a Girl of The Year is a doll AG sells for only one year. All of the GOTY’s accessories are also only sold for a year. American Girl usually does reveal videos in the days leading up to January 1st. In fact, my favorite AGTuber, Mixiepixie7, did a reveal video on Gabriella McBride (GOTY 2017).

A lot of people have “created” a GOTY doll on their blogs, and I decided to do that to. Here is what my GOTY would be like:

  • Blonde hair with pink, blue, green, and purple streaks mixed in
  • Green eyes, not like Felicity’s, but kind of hazel-green
  • Freckles

Her meet outfit would look like:

  • A light-blue tee shirt that’s longer on one side than the other with short sleeves that are light-blue tulle
  • Jeggings
  • Blue ballet flats

Personality:

  • Creative and ambitious
  • Slightly afraid to go after what she wants
  • Sometimes doubts herself

Interests:

  • Making her own clothes
  • Helping in her parent’s restaurant
  • Volunteering in the nursery at her church
  • Little kids & animals

I don’t know what her story would mainly center around. Not another “my beloved art center, bakery, etc., is closing,” which are SUPER cliché at this point in AG history. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just that AG has had so many stories with that sort of theme. Also, this girl would not be obsessed with art, art, art. She likes making her own clothes and painting, but only in her spare time. She spends most of her time at the animal shelter. We haven’t had an animal-obsessed GOTY since Nicki, in 2007. Oh, what if her favorite dog at the shelter couldn’t find a home and she has to convince her parents to let her adopt him? But that would be kind of like Grace (GOTY 2015). I don’t know. Grace was baking-obsessed, not animal obsessed. Any ideas? If so, comment below!

Lastly, for her name. I’m thinking Sadie. Or maybe Bree? What do you think?

Also, do you guys have any ideas for what new posts I should do? A photoshoot? Photostory? Outfit of the week?

The Liebster Award

liebster-award-button

Hi everyone! Shockingly, I have been nominated for ANOTHER award already! It’s called the Liebster award and it all started with Rebekah from Stuffie Adventures! The AG Homeschooler then nominated me on her blog, AG’s Wondrous World (agswondrousworld.wordpress.com). A big thanks to both of them! Here are the rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog. Try to include a little promotion for the person who nominated you. They will thank you for it and those who you nominate will also help you out as well.
  2. Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
  3. Provide 10 random facts about yourself. (Optional but highly recommended!)
  4. Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have less than 200 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
  5. List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here or simply put a link to this post on your blog.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:
  6. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post or mine if you don’t have all the information so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it)!

The AG Homeschooler posted some questions she wanted us to answer, and here they are:

  1. What’s your favorite show?
  2. What’s your greatest fear?
  3. What’s your favorite animal?
  4. Do you believe Pluto should remain a dwarf planet or be a regular planet again?
  5. Do you believe in God and in his Word, the Bible?
  6. What’s your favorite Bible verse?
  7. Who’s your favorite singer or band?
  8. Do you like the show Jessie?
  9. What do you believe happened to the dinosaurs?

My favorite show is Last Man Standing. My greatest fears are elevators, tsunamis, and large hairy spiders. My favorite animal is the red fox. And Pluto deserves to be back in the rankings as a planet again! I do believe in God and His Word. My favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13:13. My favorite singer is Brit Nicole. I like Jessie but I’m not allowed to watch it anymore. And as for the dinosaurs, um, #Ihavenoidea. And then one more random fact is I hate almonds.

Rebekah also has questions for me:

Q: If you could ask the president one question, what would it be?

A: Do you ever get scared?

Q: What is your favorite family tradition?

A: Getting Christmas pajamas.

Q: What trait do you like most about yourself?

A: I’m very compassionate and understanding.

Q: What are your talents?

A: Writing, and I’m good with animals and little kids.

Q: If you could shop for free in any store, which one would you choose?

A: AG Place Los Angeles. It’s awesome there.

Q: Would you rather be the best player on a horrible team or the worst player on a great team?

A: Best player on a horrible team!

Q: What is your favorite day of the week?

A: Friday.

Q: What personal trait has gotten you in the most trouble?

A: Uh . . .

Q: What do you put on your toast? 😜

A: Raspberry jam.

Now, I’m going to do what The AG Homeschooler did and the people I nominate are the first five people who comment on this post and say that they want to be nominated. Since my blog requires me to moderate all comments, I will moderate them in the order they are sent to my email inbox. I will then post on my blog saying who the nominees are and then they can go ahead and write about the award on their blog. Congrats in advance, guys!

Thoughts on Z

As you doll lovers might have heard, there’s a new doll on the American Girl horizon – Z Yang. And I’m here to tell you exactly. What. I. Think.

About her:

Z is a contemporary character who loves stopmotions and filmmaking. I think this is really cool, especially since AG doll stopmotions are more popular than ever right now. AG even released a series of videos a while back that were stopmotions – about Z teaching you how to make a stopmotion! It was really cool and informative. Z’s full name is Suzanne Yang.

FFD93_Z_Doll_and_Book_1

Appearance:

Z has a very unique appearance. I love that she’s Asian, especially since AG doesn’t have any other contemporary Asian characters. Z’s eyes are a pretty brown and she has pigtails in her meet outfit. Her hair is dark brown. She also has an adorable beauty mark on her cheek!

Outfit:

The meet outfit Z comes in is really cool – totally something I would wear. The shirt is purple and has a camera on it, with the word “smile.” She has on a gray skirt, much like McKenna’s (Girl Of The Year 2012) in her school outfit. Her leggings are indigo and she has gold sparkly shoes.

Accessories:

Z’s accessories include orange glasses, an orange scarf, a white jean jacket, and a purple and orange hat with some pins in the corner.

Collection:

Z’s collection is SUPER cute. She has filming accessories, two really sweet and unique addition outfits, an awesome desk set, a scooter, and a dalmatian named Popcorn! Her meet outfit is also available for girls. No pajamas (yet), unfortunately.

Book:

Z’s book is called The Real Z by Jen Calonita, and I hear her next book is soon to be released.

I like everything about Z! She’s a really fun doll, probably one of the most unique ones in AG history.

I’m thinking of doing an opinions on Gabriella McBride next. What do you think?

Name That Doll Results

Hi guys! As you probably know, about a week ago I asked you to name this doll, Truly Me #24:

From these five names:

  1. Brittney
  2. Sophie
  3. Addison

And the winner is . . .

Addison, with three votes!

Brittney was in second place, with two votes. Sophie and Kiana each received one vote, and poor Sasha was left in the dust with none. 😦

Did you like this Name That Doll contest? If so, please comment and tell me what you liked about it. I’ll do another soon if you liked it.

Name That Doll

Okay, so I’m not trying to copy anyone but I love the whole “Name That Doll” idea so I thought I’d do one of my own! I’ve seen it two ways – come up with the most creative name that I pick, or vote on a handful. I think I’ll do it the second way, so the five names you can pick from for this girl . . .

CLD44_light_skin_freckles_wavy_blond_hair_brown_eyes_1

  1. Brittney
  2. Sophie
  3. Addison

The Beginner Blogger Award

aviary_1499529646655

So . . . after only having this blog for about a month, I’ve been nominated for an award by The AG Homeschooler! (When I found this out, I was shocked!) Basically, it works like this:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their blog/blogs.
  • Answer the 5 questions given.
  • Nominate 3 bloggers with 30 or less followers.
  • Ask them 5 questions about their blog.

So here’s my thank you to The AG Homeschooler! Check out her blog here: agswondrousworld.wordpress.com.

The 5 questions for me to answer are:

  1. Why did you decide to start your blog?
  2. How did you come up with your blog’s name?
  3. What’s one thing you’ve learned about blogging so far?
  4. Who was your very first follower?
  5. How long do you think you’ll keep blogging?

I decided to start my blog so I would be able to share my AG ideas with the online community. I was NOT out to become a popular blogger. 🙂 Actually, online privacy is pretty important to me. I came up with my blog’s name because I live in Alaska and Alaska and American Girl start with the same letter, so . . . yeah. A thing I’ve learned about blogging is that when you do photoshoots, your WordPress media space fills up very quickly with your pics. 🙂 🙂 🙂 My very first follower was my best friend. I think I’ll keep blogging for a long, long time! I love dolls!

The three people I nominate are:

Avaroo2003 at avaspokemonblog.wordpress.com

Jana at thedollydistrict.blogspot.com

Kathryn at thebestloveddolls.blogspot.com

My questions for those three are:

  1. How long have you been blogging?
  2. Is blogging something you’d like to do your whole life?
  3. Who inspires you to blog?
  4. Is blogging on your Top 5 favorite things to do list?
  5. Will you continue your blog as an adult?

Thanks again to AG’s Wondrous World! Oh, and in case you don’t know how this kind of thing works, you answer the questions and complete all the requirements on YOUR blog, not in the comments. (Make sure you complete the questions and the bulleted list, too.)

Yours,

AGs in Alaska

A Summer Photoshoot

Yay! It’s time for AGs in Alaska’s first-ever photoshoot! I really wanted to use Emily for this one, but I’m working on a hairstyle on her that takes a long time to do (I’ll post it when it’s finished). It’s the kind you can take a break in the middle of. Anyways, I used Crystal as my backup and the photoshoot turned out pretty good, considering it was my first one ever. I did it at our local park, using both the playground equipment and the wooded area as my settings. Enjoy!

I hope you guys liked those pictures! When I went to the park, there were a bunch of people there. I felt kind of awkward as a teenager taking pictures of a doll, but then I thought, oh, whatever! I don’t care what they think! DOLLS ARE FOR EVERYONE!!!!! 🙂

Happy summer!

Happy Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day, everyone! It’s me, Emily. Yep. The red-haired, British girl in the cool top. There’s me, waving!

DSC_0978

So, what exactly are we celebrating today? The awesome fireworks, delicious food, or great weather? Nope! Americans across the nation are celebrating their independence from Great Britain. Which, as a matter of fact, is where I’m from! So why am I writing this post?

DSC_0997

My sisters thought it would be cool if we had a Fourth of July post from a British girl’s perspective. I wasn’t sure, but they managed to talk me into it. Anyways, here goes!

DSC_0991

I hope I’m not being disloyal to my birth country or anything, but we were being a tad bit unfair to the colonists. After all, we were charging them way too much for their tea, stamps, and whatnot, especially when they still considered themselves British citizens. No taxation without representation, right? But it’s all behind us now, and Britain and America are allies! BFFs. Best chums. Loyal mates. Whatever you want to call it.

DSC_0984

And I have six awesome American sisters! We’re having an epic party today. The neighbors have even called to complain about us keeping our voices down. Later tonight, we’re going to see some fireworks!

DSC_0986

What are you lot doing for the Fourth of July? Tell us below in the comments! (And whose outfit do you like the most? We’re having a friendly 🙂 competition.)

Happy Fourth!

Love,

Emily & AGs in Alaska
