One-Of-A-Kind Doll Fashions

I’ve been playing around the the American Girl website with their new Create Your Own feature. I’ve created quite a few dolls, but never any outfits. I decided to make some of those today and showcase them here on my late Thursday post. (Sorry ’bout that!)

Screen Shot 2017-09-28 at 7.08.39 PM

First off on the runway, we have this gorgeous glowing dress with a fashionable bow around the middle and sparkling sequins to light up the night.

Screen Shot 2017-09-28 at 7.20.11 PM

Next up is a more sporty style. The simple turquoise uniform is brought together with a feminine sparkly silver-and-purple headband to keep your lovely locks back while you’re on the field.

If you’re looking for a fun playtime outfit that will still bring out your style, try this one on for size. The comfy star-spangled jeggings are a stylish wear and match the bright blue stars on the tee shirt. The look is completed with a beautiful purple scarf.

If you’re looking to wear your heart on your sleeve – well, almost on your sleeve – this puppy is yours. All Frenchie fans will go nuts for this sweet one – and best of all, he’s machine washable, so when he goes to roll around in some dirt, you can stick him right in.

And this one is just a backpack I designed. There were rhinestones at the bottom, but the AG website wouldn’t show them. I’ve seen lots of “Oh, Snap!” play-on-words, and this one just popped right into my head.

I hope you enjoyed those! Go to the AG Create Your Own section of their website to make your own dolls and styles. Have a great weekend! I hope school is going good for y’all.

I Love AG

I’m not super happy with how it turned out, as I am very inexperienced when it comes to creating pictures for my blog. Feel free to use the picture on your blog. But anyways, here are the rules for the tag!

  1. If you were to create a doll, what would she be like? Would she be a GOTY, BeForever, Contemporary, etc?
  2. Who has been your favorite GOTY?
  3. Do you like the new Permapanties? (I certainly don’t!)
  4. Do you like Gabriela?

The Dog Blog: Chocolate Chip

Morgan: Hey, everybody! What’s up? It’s Morgan here on the Dog Blog. The Dog Blog is a brand-new thing here on American Girls in Alaska. It’s where I interview the AGIA (new acronym for American Girls in Alaska) family dogs. I’m pleased to announce that the very first dog I’ll be interviewing is my own one. Please welcome . . . Chocolate Chip!

Chocolate Chip: Hi, friends!

Morgan: Chocolate Chip – or Chocolate, if I may call you that – how does it feel to be the very first dog interviewed on American Girls in Alaska?

Chocolate Chip: It’s an honor. I’m very pleased that I was selected.

Morgan: Chocolate Chip, lots of our readers here might not know much about you. Can you tell us more about yourself?

Chocolate Chip: Of course, Morgan. My main love is helping my human friends – I’m trained as a service dog, as you can tell by the vest I wear. When I’m not helping, I like to play fetch in the backyard – for a yummy chicken-flavored treat, of course.

Morgan: Of course. Now, Chocolate, I promise I’ll keep this totally confidential from all the other dogs, but is there a particular friend you have in the AGIA family?

Chocolate Chip: If I had to pick, it would be Cooper, McKenna’s dog. All of the other dogs are so small, so I can’t play rough-and-tumble games without somebody – and it’s never me, of course – getting hurt. Cooper likes the same things I do: fetch, treats, and going for walks. We’re best buds.

Morgan: If you had to choose between walks and fetch, which one would it be?

Chocolate Chip: Fetch, of course. We Labrador Retrievers love running toward that flying green tennis ball, picking it up in our mouths, and racing back to our owners to be rewarded with a pat on the head, a “Good Boy!” and another chance to chase the ball.

Morgan: Now, Chocolate Chip, I know that this may be a strange question, but how would you describe your owner?

Chocolate Chip: You’re really fun to play with, and I love that you love me and all the other dogs so much. I really appreciate all the time you spent training me to be a service dog. But you do sometimes skimp on the treats.

Morgan: Now, Chocolate Chip . . .

(Chocolate Chip licks Morgan’s face)

Morgan: Okay, okay. Good boy. I love you too. That’s all we have for you today, folks. Stay tuned for the next edition of the Dog Blog.

20 SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!!!!

NOTE: THIS POST IS A SPECIAL-OCCASSION-NOT-ON-A-MONDAY-OR-A-THURSDAY-POST.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I just checked my email inbox and found out that two people subscribed to my blog today . . . sending me to 20 SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!

I am seriously super happy right now. Y’all are so nice to subscribe and read my blog, even though I am an inexperienced AG blogger. To celebrate, I made of list of why I love blogging and my blog friends!

My List of Why I Love AG Blogging

  • The AGBC (American Girl Blogger/Blogging Community) is INCREDIBLE. People are so nice in the comments and have nominated me for awards and oh my goodness, I was not expecting that AT ALL. In fact, my mom warned me that people may be mean in the comments. That has NOT happened (yet). Everyone is so friendly and wonderful!
  • I can post whatever AG ideas I want to and you guys don’t call me crazy. Again, y’all are so sweet!
  • Blogging is just simply . . . fun!!! Tags and nominations and chatting in the comments are the funnest (yes, that is a word) things about blogging.
  • I just realized this is a very short list, because I can’t put into words how blogging makes me feel!
  • So just thank you sooooo much!

On Thursday, I have a very cool post coming up, so stay tuned!

By the way, I’m sure some of you are wondering why my blog doesn’t have pictures in every post, like a lot of AG doll blogs do. That’s because I don’t currently have a camera to use. This is disappointing for me, because I love photography, but I’m hoping to get a camera I can use soon.

Thanks again for 20 SUBSCRIBERS!!!

Review of TrulyMe #55

Happy Thursday! Wow, the weekend is almost in sight! I’m sure by now all of you have started school, and I hope that’s going well.

For today’s post, I’m doing a review on TrulyMe #55. I own this doll (I call her Morgan), and she is my absolute favorite AG doll ever (I think). I have almost no complaints whatsoever. If you’re looking into buying this doll, please read my review first. The picture is from the AG website (americangirl.com).

06BUN136_Truly_Me_Doll_55_Light_Skin_Dark_Brown_Hair_Hazel_Eyes_With_Accessories_2

This is what TrulyMe #55 looks like.

Hair: Love the hair. It’s gorgeous and silky-smooth – unless your #55 is several years old and her hair is totally frizzy by now. I’m considering shipping Morgan off to the AG doll hospital to get rewigged, since I really miss her lovely locks. When her hair is like new, the doll practically glows!

Eyes: Beautiful eyes. They’re a gorgeous hazel color with flecks of green.

Freckles: SOOOOO cute!!! TrulyMe #55 looks adorable with her cute freckles. I don’t even have to words for how sweet they are.

Skin: Her skin is fair, like a lot of AG dolls. Nothing much to say about it.

Outfit: I don’t actually own the current TrulyMe outfit, I own the pink butterfly shirt/gray skirt outfit from last year. This outfit looks pretty cute, though.

Overall: As you can probably guess, Morgan is my favorite doll out of my seven AGs. She’s great quality and truly beautiful. If you’re considering getting a TrulyMe, I strongly encourage you to get TrulyMe #55. You won’t regret it!!!

Sorry for the short post, guys. I think I’ll do a photostory next week, unless I come up with a better idea. I have a pretty good plan for what it’ll be about. I think you guys will really like it!

Update on The Liebster Award, Version #2

Hi guys. This is an update on this post. This is actually not one of my two weekly posts, but I nominated some people who don’t blog anymore, so I wanted to publish this ASAP so the nominees could work on their posts. The new people I nominate are (the last two were original nominees):

Natalie @ theAGspot

Elli (this may not be her correct name, sorry) @ Stitching With Elli

Jewel @ Doll Notebook

Mya @ AG Lane

Dolly Sisters @ AG Dolly Sisters

Here is the original post:

You may recall this this post back in July. It was when I was nominated for the Liebster Award by the awe-som-e Rebekah from Stuffie Adventures. It was really sweet of her, and now I’m being nominated again by Avaroo2003 from Ava’s Pokemon Blog! Thanks so much, Ava! You probably remember this post, when I did a promotion for her blog. Check it out if you like Pokémon! Ava is amazing! 🙂

Here are the rules for the Liebster Award:

  1. Recognize the blogger that nominated you
  2. Answer all the questions that the blogger asked you on your website
  3. Nominate 5 – 11 other bloggers and tell them that you nominated them
  4. And create 11 new questions for your nominees!

Ava is asking these questions:

  1. Do you like Pokémon? If so, which one is your favorite? (For those with Pokémon blogs, you are excused from the first half of this question)
  2. What do you do in your spare time?
  3. Do you play any instruments?
  4. If you could visit any country with every expense paid, which one would it be?
  5. Why do you blog?
  6. Why did you start blogging?
  7. Will you ever stop blogging?
  8. If you had to eat one food only, for one entire month, what would the food be?
  9. Do you like math?
  10. Do you like art?
  11. Who will you nominate?

Here are my answers:

  1. Yes, I like Pokémon. My favorite is Ninetails.
  2. In my spare time, I read, write, and blog. And watch YouTube, much to my mother’s dismay.
  3. I play the piano (and I love singing, but that doesn’t mean I’m good at it).
  4. France. Francefrancefrancefrancefrance. More specifically, Paris! I already speak French.
  5. I blog because I want to. Just kidding. I blog to share my AG ideas with other doll lovers!
  6. I started blogging for a journalism assignment. This is actually not my first blog, but I finished my last blog and missed blogging so I started a new one.
  7. Probably, when I go to college.
  8. French toast. Although that is a combination of foods . . . in not French toast, then watermelon.
  9. No. I HATE math.
  10. No, not really. It’s a frustrating subject for me as I am not naturally gifted in art and everything I drew looks weird.
  11. I will nominate . . . the people above!

Here are questions I have for them:

  1. Do you like camping?
  2. Have you ever been ziplining?
  3. Are you afraid of dogs?
  4. Pancakes or French toast?
  5. Do you speak a foreign language?
  6. Have you ever visited Alaska?
  7. How many dolls do you have?
  8. What doll would you like to have?
  9. Do you like Gabriella McBride (GOTY 2017)?
  10. What is your favorite book?

That’s all for now! See ya later!

Thoughts on Gabriela

Okay, okay, I know. Gabriela will only be Girl of The Year for four more months! What’s with the late review?!?! HOWever, I could not let 2017 go by (hello, New Year’s!) without doing a GOTY thoughts post. Instead of earlier thoughts posts, this post will only have my opinions, instead of reviews on Gabriela’s entire collection. Without further ado, here’s what I think about ‘er!

Quick disclaimer: These are my opinions and my thoughts. I am not saying that everyone will agree, nor do I expect everyone to agree. Now, why am I putting a disclaimer is this particular thought post? Well, you’ll see.

FDT49_Gabriela_Doll_Book_1.jpg

Thoughts on Gabriela

Good things:

Gabriela McBride is a young girl growing up in modern times, just like all of the other GOTYs. (BTW, a GOTY is a Girl of The Year, in case you didn’t get the memo.) I love that she’s African-American, especially since other GOTYs haven’t ever been African-American. Her hair is amazing, super cute, and totally unique to her look.

And that’s about all for the good things.

Bad things:

I know I’m not the only one who thinks this. AG has been running out of GOTY ideas. I totally don’t get it! AG is super creative with their contemporary and BeForever dolls, but when it comes to GOTY, they’re totally drawing blanks. Gabriela, to me, is a combination of McKenna (GOTY 2012), Saige (GOTY 2013), Isabelle (GOTY 2014), and Melody (BeForever from the ’60s). Why? Well, Gabriela likes to write poems, just like McKenna. She’s an artist, just like Saige. She likes to dance, just like Isabelle. And she likes to sing, just like Melody.

American Girl seriously needs to branch out. Can’t we have a doll who likes to write books or has a blog? One who is into STEM? Ooh, what about a GOTY who likes rollerblading? Really. I feel like AG is stuck in a never-ending cycle of artist. Dancer. Singer. There are SOOOOOOO many other ideas for GOTYs that American Girl could use. Sorry to be so negative, but it’s true! Besides, artist/dancer/singer is kind of a girly-girl stereotype. I mean, I love dancing and singing, but I like other things that aren’t so girly-girl too! I’m hoping GOTY 2018 will like something other than dancing, singing, or art.

I’m super sorry if those are things you are obsessed with. Like I said, I love dancing and singing (I suck at art), but re-al-ly? AG, it’s time to change it up a bit.

Gabriela’s hobbies aren’t the only things I don’t like about her. Her meet outfit just isn’t that cute (love the headband, though), and I don’t particularly care for her pajamas. There’s so much glitter in her outfits, which is totally Isabelle from 2014. The only thing of hers I actually like are her ottoman and her loft bed.

I was kind of disappointed that the GOTY for this year wasn’t very creatively done, and I’m hoping next year’s GOTY will be better. There are GOTY 2018 leaks all over the Internet, but most of them obviously aren’t true.

The picture of Gabriela is from americangirl.com.

Thanks for reading!

Who Wore it Best? Winner!!!

Last week I asked you guys to vote on which doll you think wore this outfit best:

IMG_2695IMG_2697IMG_2698In case you don’t remember, which I’m sure (at least, I hope) you all do, I sewed that dress myself. The leggings are indeed American Girl leggings, from McKenna’s School Outfit.

Now, let’s get down to business. I am pleased to announce that the winner of American Girls in Alaska’s first-ever Who Wore it Best? competition has been determined. It’s . . .

Drumroll please!

McKenna! She’s the doll on the top, just FYI. Oh, whatever. I’ll show her picture again.

IMG_2695

McKenna sends her heartfelt thanks to all of you who voted for her, which was four of you! Morgan was a close second (she’s the doll in the middle) with three votes. Emily, the doll on the bottom, received no votes, which is why she is pouting in her bedroom. Boo-hoo.

Anyways, thanks so much for voting! I received quite a few comments on this post, actually. I think we broke a record. You guys are amazing! Catch you on Thursday!
