A Summer Photoshoot, Take 2

Hey guys, happy Sunday! I have a fun new photoshoot for you today. But first, do you remember this one? I did it last summer, and it was so fun that I decided to do it AGAIN – but with a different doll. I hope you enjoy!

Soooooooo Many Tags!

Hey guys! I hope y’all are enjoying the summer. (I have to go back to school in a month, which I am so NOT looking forward to.)

In the meantime, I have been tagged – or rather, my dolls and I have been tagged – quite a few times recently, and I thought I’d better hurry up at do some of them. Thank you to everyone who tagged me! If you were tagged by me, please make sure to check which version of the tag I tagged you for, since there are 2 Blue Sky tags and 3 AG Q and A Tags.

First up, the Blue Sky Tag! Thanks, Jewel!

The Rules:

  1. Thank the person that tagged you
  2. Answer their 11 questions
  3. Tag 11 more people
  4. And give them 11 questions to answer

 Here are the 11 questions:

  1. What is your favorite Ice-cream flavor? Argh, this is so hard. It was always French vanilla (Thomas Jefferson’s favorite flavor, by the way) and then it was mint chocolate chip. But now I really love dulce de leche!
  2. Do you prefer to chill with others or by yourself? By myself. I am an introvert, but I am also outgoing. And no, extroverted and outgoing are not the same thing. I love to be by myself, but sometimes I do need my friends.
  3. Are you afraid of heights? Completely! Ferris wheels will be the death of me.
  4. What are your 2 favorite movies? The Parent Trap (the remake with Lindsey Lohan) and The Last Jedi!
  5. What is your favorite TV show? I like Greenhouse Academy quite a bit!
  6. Read or write? How dare you make me choose! I guess . . . reading?
  7. What song have you been listening to lately? “One Foot” by Walk The Moon.
  8. Do you have a hidden talent? I don’t believe so. If I do, I haven’t discovered it yet. 🙂
  9. Are most of your friends around your own age, younger, or older? Most of them are younger than me, because we are involved in a scouting organization for girls and lots of the girls in my group are younger.
  10. How do you feel about Star Wars? I’m not obsessed, but I think it’s a pretty cool series of movies.
  11. Do you like cats or dogs better, and why? 100% dog. I cannot stand cats, they are way too aloof and want YOU to work for THEIR attention. And you’re the one feeding them and, ya know, keeping them alive! Dogs automatically love you,  which is awesome.

  • Create your own AG Q&A Tag button. If you don’t know how, you may use mine or skip this step.
  • Thank the person/doll that nominated you and give a link to the blog.
  • Come up with five questions for your nominees. You can include these in your tag post of send them separately. Do NOT ask any personal or inappropriate questions.

  • Nominate 3-5 other AG bloggers’ dolls.
  • Notify your nominees and send them a link to your tag post.

Hey guys! It’s Morgan here! I will now be answering Lea’s questions.

  • What is your favorite musical instrument? I love the flute. It’s so beautiful and makes such lovely sounds.
  • If you could be cast in any movie…what character would you want to be? I honestly don’t know. I don’t watch movies very often.
  • Would you rather go to the mountains or the beach? Probably the beach. I love the ocean!
  • What’s the most fun thing you get to do with your human? We love doing agility training with Chocolate Chip! He loves it too.
  • What accessory or outfit do you wish AG would create? An agility set for dogs. It would be super fun, and Chip and I would use it all the time.

Next up, Sassafras tagged me for the Blue Sky Tag! Well, technically she tagged me for the AIO Tag, but I don’t know enough about AIO to do it. Thanks, Sassafras!

I have the rules posted above.

The questions:

Who are a couple of your favorite authors? I love Shannon Messenger’s Keeper of the Lost Cities Series, and then Heather Vogel Frederick’s Mother Daughter Book Club series.

Which book of the Bible do you read the most? Probably Genesis or Exodus. I have read them both a couple of times.

What are your main hobbies? Reading, writing, photography, and petsitting.

Do you prefer cities or the country? Cities, since there is so much going on and fun things to do and see.

Would you rather go barefoot or wear sneakers? I do love going barefoot. When I lived in CA, I wore shoes only 5% of the time.

Do you prefer big stuffed animals or little stuffed animals? Smaller, they are easier to pack.

What camera and lenses (if you have a DSLR) do you use to take your blog photos? I use a Nikon D5000. I use the 30-50 milileter lense (or that’s what my mom said, it’s her camera.)

Do you use any camera equipment? Yes. I have a tripod.

Do you print out any of the photos you take? Not usually. I don’t like having to drive over to Walgreens to get them, and if I print them at home they’re all grainy.

How do you listen to your favorite music? Either on my iPod, computer, or the radio.

What instrument would you like to learn how to play? I already play piano and guitar, but maybe the cello? It seems interesting.

The questions:

  • Do you like hot weather or cool weather?
  • How many pillows do you sleep with? (I know, random.)
  • How many pets do you have?
  • Have you ever been ziplining?
  • Have you every gone surfing?
  • What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
  • 10 years?
  • 20 years?
  • If you were to cook anything from a foreign country, what would it be?
  • Do you like chicken or beef better?
  • Favorite time period?

PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!

Everybody, please welcome to the family . . .

Callie and Jaxon!!!!!

We acquired our new furry friends on June 11th, so it’s been a month. The puppies are five months old and are from the same litter.

First up, we have Callie.
DSC_0942
Callie is my puppy, and she is a purebred Chihuahua. She has a cute little underbite and a very sassy personality. She’s possibly the runt of the litter, but she is definitely in charge when it comes to her brother. 🙂
(Don’t tell Archie, but she’s totally touching him. See the black fur?)
Next is Jaxon.
DSC_1020 2
He belongs to my brother, and he is a Chihuahua mix – possibly Dauschund or Jack Russel Terrier. He’s extremely playful and IMPOSSIBLE to housebreak. (Oh yeah, did I mention they’re NOT HOUSEBROKEN???)
That’s it for now . . . oh yeah. Quick announcement. My posting schedule is going to be sort of wonky this summer, with the extra free time I’ll have and then crazy busy weeks, so expect two posts a week – but they may not necessarily be on a Monday and a Thursday.
I’ll see y’all later this week!

What do you think of the new puppies? Which one is cuter? YES YOU MUST MAKE A DECISION. Kidding. 🙂

Patriotic Photography – A Collab With Chachel @ Wild Sketch

Patriotic Photography

Happy Independence Day, everyone! Today is one of my favorite holidays for several reasons – food, family, fun, freedom – and photography!

That’s why I’m teaming up with Chachel from her awesome art blog, Wild Sketch! Chachel, also known as Rachel, does amazing DIY tutorials, shows her beautiful artwork, and posts pictures of her adorable cat, Gosha. Go follow her lovely blog right now!

It’s actually kind of funny. My first photoshoot was a 4th of July photoshoot I did last year, and here I am with another one. Kind of sentimental, when you think about it!

Chachel and I decided that for our collab, we would take patriotic pictures for the 4th. I dressed up my dolls in red white and blue outfits and took them into the backyard for a patriotic photoshoot. Here you go!

3 “Explosive” 4th of July Hairstyles

“Explosive” hairstyles! Sorry, I couldn’t help it. It’s hard to think of an Independence Day adjective that lends itself to hairstyles. That’s the best I could do.

These hairstyles are very simple to do and are perfect for Independence Day, as well as all summer! They work great on human hair too, so you can do them on yourself or your friends. I have a short hair hairstyle, an “any length” hairstyle and a long hair hairstyle. Enjoy, and let me know if you try any of these! You can send pictures to me at americangirlsak@gmail.com

Ladder Ponytail (For Long Hair)

This hairstyle is ridiculously simple to do, contrary to its complicated appearance. It’s one of my favorites!

DSC_0909

Supplies: Long-haired doll, six hair ties (DO NOT USE THE TINY PLASTIC ONES, THEY ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT!!!), a hairbrush (I know, it’s not AG doll kosher but McKenna needs a new wig anyway, and a spray bottle (optional).

DSC_0910

Step 1: Brush your doll’s hair backward, making it so that there is no part.

DSC_0911

Step 2: Make a ponytail at the crown of her head.

DSC_0912

Step 3: Split the red ponytail in two.

DSC_0913

Step 4: Take the left side of the red ponytail and grab a section of hair from the left side of her head, combining them into a white ponytail.

DSC_0914

Step 5: Repeat on the other side.

DSC_0915

Step 6: Split the white ponytails each in two, then take the inside sections and combine them into a blue ponytail.

DSC_0916

Step 7: Take the outside section of the white ponytail and grab a section of hair from the left side of her head, combining them into another blue ponytail.

DSC_0918

Step 8: Repeat on the other side.

DSC_0920

Ta-da! Beautiful and very patriotic!

DSC_0923

Ready for a backyard barbeque!

French Braid Ponytails (For Short Hair)

This hairstyle is totally adorable, and feel free to make it messy and fun! And there will still be hair sticking out of the bottom, if your doll has SUPER short hair like Lindsey. But I like it that way, it’s playful.

DSC_0924

Supplies: Short-haired doll, two hair ties, a hairbrush, and a spray bottle (optional).

DSC_0925

Step 1: Part her hair down the middle and tie off one section.

DSC_0926

Step 2: Take a small section from the front.

DSC_0927

Step 3: Split it into three sections and begin French braiding.

DSC_0928

Step 4: Tie it off into a ponytail around her ear.

DSC_0930

Step 5: Repeat on the other side.

DSC_0931

Voilà! Ready to play in the sprinkler!

Dressed-Up Braid (For Any Length)

Guys, there are only three steps in this hairstyle. In fact, it probably shouldn’t even be called a hairstyle. But it’s cute, so I’m putting it in here. 🙂

DSC_0933

Supplies: Doll, hair tie (not shown), headband, spray bottle (optional).

DSC_0934

Step 1: Separate a small section of hair from the side of her head.

DSC_0935

Step 2: Braid it.

DSC_0936

Step 3: Slip on the headband, and you’re done!

I hope you enjoyed these hairstyle tutorials! If you try any, make sure to email me at americangirlsak@gmail.com with some pictures! I’d be happy to post them on my blog. Have a fabulous Independence Day!
