How Mischief Got His Name (A Photostory)

Hey guys! Sorry for no post last week – all the posts for the weeks before that were scheduled (and tbh that’s probably the only reason posts from me actually appeared in your dratted Reader).

I have a fun photostory for you today, featuring Tessa and Morgan (and Emily!), who you guys said you wanted to see more of on my poll. Now, without further ado . . . onto the photostory!

DSC_0719

“Mmm, delicious,” I say aloud and I pick a ripe pea from a branch in our garden. The early September sun beats down on my back, reminding me of the great weather we’re having. My sisters swear that snow is just around the corner, though.

DSC_0725

The leaves rustle and I turn my head to see Morgan and Emily approaching. They’re both sporting big smiles – which is unusual for Emily, the quietest of all the girls.

“Hey Tessa! What’s up?” Morgan asks with a wave.

“Nothin’ much,” I reply. “You?”

DSC_0730

“Actually, Emily and I have something we’d like to show you. Come on, follow us!”

DSC_0731

I stand up, curious to see what Morgan is so excited about.

DSC_0736

We follow Emily out of the gate and turn the corner.

DSC_0738

Morgan stops and stands beside a blue cage. “And . . . here we are.”

DSC_0739

“Surprise!” Emily cries. “Open it, Tessa.”

DSC_0741

Knowing these two sisters’ personalities, there’s probably not something like a snake or tarantula inside the cage, so I grab the handle and pull it open.

“Oh. My. Goodness!”

DSC_0742

Inside the cage is the sweetest, most adorable bunny I’ve ever seen. He’s fluffy and white with big brown eyes and a twitchy pink nose.

DSC_0743

“Aww!” I cry. “He’s precious!”

DSC_0744

“And he’s all yours,” Morgan informs me. “You know, since you’re not really a dog person.  Well, yet, anyway.”

“Go on, pick him up,” Emily urges.

DSC_0746

I ben down and try to scoop the bunny out of his cage. That’s not exactly what happens.

DSC_0747

The bunny hops out of his cage and sniffs the air eagerly.

“Noooooo!” Emily shrieks, which is the loudest sound I’ve ever heard her make.

DSC_0749

“GET THAT BUNNY!”

DSC_0756

The fluffy white creature jumps over the ledge bordering our garden. He’s faster than I thought!

DSC_0757

“You get back here, mister!” Emily commands. The bunny, not having a full command of the English language (or even partial command), makes no move to listen to her.

DSC_0759

“Don’t scare him!” Morgan says. “Or we’ll never get him back!”

DSC_0766

The little bunny continues his journey across our front yard. He hops off the sidewalk and into the street. I gasp. There’s a car coming from a block away!

DSC_0767

“We can’t let him get into the street!” I cry. “Come on guys, help me!”

DSC_0768

All of a sudden, Emily jumps in front of the bunny.

DSC_0772

“That’s enough of that, young man,” Emily says softly, scooping up the rabbit. “Now, back to your cage.”

DSC_0773

Emily carries the litle lagomorph to his hutch and sets him inside carefully.

DSC_0774

“Phew!” I breathe. “That was a close one.”

DSC_0776

“No kidding,” Morgan agrees, plopping down onto the grass. She’s panting hard and her hair is a mess.

DSC_0778

“So what’s his name?” I ask. “A cute little guy like this needs a good name.”

DSC_0745

“Whatever you want,” Emily tells me. “He’s all yours, anyway.”

DSC_0779

Suddenly, the perfect name pops into my head. “I have it!”

DSC_0780

“Guys, this is . . .”

DSC_0781

“Mischief.”

-End of photostory-

Ta-da! There you are. Tessa now has a pet. Fun fact – I actually picked Mischief out in Dallas at the AG store, but I haven’t gotten the chance to actually put him in a phostory since then.

Catch you guys next week!

What do you think of Mischief? What’s your favorite AG pet? Do you like bunnies?

Back-To-School According to Crystal

DSC_0711

Hello, lovlies! It’s your favorite doll here to give you some amazing back-to-school advice. Whether you’re going into high school, middle school, or you’re still in elementary, read on to learn everything you need to know for tackling the upcoming school year. Why do I sound like a YouTube video?!?!

DSC_0717

Tip #1: Approach school with a good attitude. Having a bad attitude, or being in a negative mindset, will definitely NOT help you. Imagine the best – all the new friends you’ll make, the new stuff you’ll learn, etc., instead.

DSC_0718

Tip #2: Smile. Smile at everyone. The nice kids, the mean kids, the good teachers, the cranky teachers. Even smiling when nothing’s funny will dramatically improve your attitude! Try it. You’d be surprised.

DSC_0715

Tip #3: Challenge yourself. Try a new club, take an advanced/Honors class (if you qualify, of course). Do a team sport, like tennis, XC running, or skiing. Or just challenge yourself to get A’s on your tests or meet a new person every day.

DSC_0716

Tip #4: Power through your homework. Sometimes, you’ll feel really bogged down with homework – especially if you get something to do from EVERY. SINGLE. TEACHER. When you get home, eat a nourishing snack and take a 15-minute walk before tackling your homework. Every thirty minutes, take a five-minute break and do something productive – switch the laundry, speed-clean the coffee table, or make your bed. Then get right back to work.

DSC_0712

Tip #5: Breathe. This tip is great when you’re taking a big test. Don’t freak out. Visualize yourself in your happy place, and take a few deep breaths. You’ve got this!

I hope my tips help you this year!

Are you excited for school? What is your favorite class? When do you start (if you haven’t already)?

Luci On The Deck (A Photoshoot)

Yay! Luci’s first photoshoot!

Luci is a gorgeous doll and her meet outfit is ADORABLE. Guys, I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve had her for a MONTH already and I haven’t taken her out of her meet outfit.

Now, let’s get onto the photoshoot!

I thought that the flowers on the deck coordinated with her dress so nicely. Flowers are super fun to photograph, don’t you agree?

You can see that Luci’s eyes have that downward tilt that is supposedly an AG glitch, but I think it gives her nice character.

Which picture is your favorite? Do you have Luciana? Do you like flower photography, too? What do you think of Luci’s eyes?

Guess Who Showed Up // I So Do Love Weird Post Titles

You probably saw this coming.

I couldn’t resist.

She was just so cute, so sweet.

Perfect for my collection.

Guess who arrived a few weeks ago?

DSC_0127

A BOX!!! *JAZZ HANDS*

(The hands belong to ten of my friends, who were at my house when this miraculous, life-changing event occured.) Okay, there aren’t twenty hands in the picture, but I promise there were twenty hands there! Well, when you count mine, my mom’s, my friends’ moms’ . . . okay, that’s a lot of hands.

Never mind.

DSC_0128

There she is!

DSC_0129

Luciana.

DSC_0131

Eeek!!!

DSC_0133

She’s so cuteeeee!!!! (Yeah, my friends love Callie . . . you can see her in the background).

DSC_0134

I treated myself to Luci’s pajamas as well, which are super adorable.

So we’re up to nine now.

You can go check out Luci’s profile on the Meet The Dolls page, which I’m not going to bother linking for you because that involves work. 🙂

Okay, fine, I’ll link it for you. HERE

Huge thanks to Jewel for answering all of my questions about Luciana. I really appreciate it, Jewel!

Expect to see an adorable photoshoot of Luci soon!

Bye for now. 🙂

A Day in the Life: Grace Adelaide

Hey, guys! It’s Grace here. Guess what – it’s my turn for ADITL post! Yippee! Continue reading to hear all about why I do on an average day. 🙂

9:00 AM: I know, I know, most of my sisters get up waaaaayyyyy earlier than I do, but let’s just say I need my beauty sleep. Hmm, maybe I’ve been spending too much time around Crystal . . .

10:00 AM: Baking time! My dream is to be a professional baker, working in a pâtisserie in Paris. (I may need to change my wake-up time for this to become a reality, however). For my first treat, I whip up a batch of vanilla éclairs. Lindsey jumps in and sneaks two right out from under my nose – and then shoves them in her mouth. Le sigh.

12:00 PM: Part of my duty of being the master chef in this house is to make everyone lunch. However, feeding seven other girls is nearly impossible, since they ALL WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT. McKenna puts in a request for grilled cheese sandwiches, Crystal orders a Caprese salad, and Tessa wants pizza. I decide to make chicken noodle soup with sandwiches. Take it or leave it, as they say.

2:00 PM: I head to Tessa’s first ballet class with her. She’s really excited, since finding her something to do here in Alaska has proven to be very difficult. We’ve tried gymnastics, dog training, etc., etc., etc. I’m hoping this works out for her. I bring along rhubarb crumb bars as a post-lesson snack.

5:00 PM: Dinner time! I cook up some pad see ew, a delicious Thai dish. It’s my family’s absolute favorite. You guys should try it sometime! Bonbon gets underfoot in the kitchen as I spill a pan of water on her. Fortunately, it wasn’t boiling hot water . . . that would have been bad. Instead, the floor gets a thorough cleaning. While Molly is helping me clean it up, she spouts of random facts about how in Israel, the women clean their floors by dumping a pot of water on them, and then all the water flows into a drain on the floor. Which is sort of unhelpful.

7:00 PM: I take Bonbon for a walk, accompanied by Morgan, Chocolate Chip, and Cooper. Because of the Midnight Sun, we can still enjoy sunlight even in the evening hours. However, we’re losing five minutes of sunlight a day. 😦 Soon it’ll snow, and then we’ll have Halloween and . . . Christmas!

10:00 PM: I tuck myself in bed and page through a new cookbook. I’m considering going Paleo, but then I would have to give up real sugar. No can do for me. Good night, guys!

What On Earth Have I Been Doing?

Hey guys. I’ve been hearing some things about why I haven’t been blogging lately from some friends of mine, and yes. I know I have not been blogging lately. Here’s why.

  • My cousins have been here
  • My pen pal from Texas has been here
  • My grandparents have been here
  • It’s summer in Alaska, which is the ONLY time of year you can do all the stuff you’ve needed to do for the past nine months

I know this sounds like an excuse, and yes, I probably should’ve announced a hiatus. But I’m going to do my absolute best to blog more now.

I’M NOT LEAVING, GUYS. DON’T WORRY.

BUT I am taking three classes at a public school this year, so with that, homework, and other classes, I think I may only be able to post only ONCE a week, or twice if possible.

I’m getting started right now – check out my new A Day In The Life post, featuring Grace!

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re having a great Tuesday. In my “I’m Back!” post, I mentioned that we acquired some new additions in my family. Here are some of your guesses as to what the new additions might be:

the 2 members are pets!! (Mary E.)

PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!

Everybody, please welcome to the family . . .

Callie and Jaxon!!!!!

We acquired our new furry friends on June 11th, so it’s been a month. The puppies are five months old and are from the same litter.

First up, we have Callie.
DSC_0942
Callie is my puppy, and she is a purebred Chihuahua. She has a cute little underbite and a very sassy personality. She’s possibly the runt of the litter, but she is definitely in charge when it comes to her brother. 🙂
(Don’t tell Archie, but she’s totally touching him. See the black fur?)
Next is Jaxon.
DSC_1020 2
He belongs to my brother, and he is a Chihuahua mix – possibly Dauschund or Jack Russel Terrier. He’s extremely playful and IMPOSSIBLE to housebreak. (Oh yeah, did I mention they’re NOT HOUSEBROKEN???)
That’s it for now . . . oh yeah. Quick announcement. My posting schedule is going to be sort of wonky this summer, with the extra free time I’ll have and then crazy busy weeks, so expect two posts a week – but they may not necessarily be on a Monday and a Thursday.
I’ll see y’all later this week!

What do you think of the new puppies? Which one is cuter? YES YOU MUST MAKE A DECISION. Kidding. 🙂

Patriotic Photography – A Collab With Chachel @ Wild Sketch

Patriotic Photography

Happy Independence Day, everyone! Today is one of my favorite holidays for several reasons – food, family, fun, freedom – and photography!

That’s why I’m teaming up with Chachel from her awesome art blog, Wild Sketch! Chachel, also known as Rachel, does amazing DIY tutorials, shows her beautiful artwork, and posts pictures of her adorable cat, Gosha. Go follow her lovely blog right now!

It’s actually kind of funny. My first photoshoot was a 4th of July photoshoot I did last year, and here I am with another one. Kind of sentimental, when you think about it!

Chachel and I decided that for our collab, we would take patriotic pictures for the 4th. I dressed up my dolls in red white and blue outfits and took them into the backyard for a patriotic photoshoot. Here you go!

3 “Explosive” 4th of July Hairstyles

“Explosive” hairstyles! Sorry, I couldn’t help it. It’s hard to think of an Independence Day adjective that lends itself to hairstyles. That’s the best I could do.

These hairstyles are very simple to do and are perfect for Independence Day, as well as all summer! They work great on human hair too, so you can do them on yourself or your friends. I have a short hair hairstyle, an “any length” hairstyle and a long hair hairstyle. Enjoy, and let me know if you try any of these! You can send pictures to me at americangirlsak@gmail.com

Ladder Ponytail (For Long Hair)

This hairstyle is ridiculously simple to do, contrary to its complicated appearance. It’s one of my favorites!

DSC_0909

Supplies: Long-haired doll, six hair ties (DO NOT USE THE TINY PLASTIC ONES, THEY ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT!!!), a hairbrush (I know, it’s not AG doll kosher but McKenna needs a new wig anyway, and a spray bottle (optional).

DSC_0910

Step 1: Brush your doll’s hair backward, making it so that there is no part.

DSC_0911

Step 2: Make a ponytail at the crown of her head.

DSC_0912

Step 3: Split the red ponytail in two.

DSC_0913

Step 4: Take the left side of the red ponytail and grab a section of hair from the left side of her head, combining them into a white ponytail.

DSC_0914

Step 5: Repeat on the other side.

DSC_0915

Step 6: Split the white ponytails each in two, then take the inside sections and combine them into a blue ponytail.

DSC_0916

Step 7: Take the outside section of the white ponytail and grab a section of hair from the left side of her head, combining them into another blue ponytail.

DSC_0918

Step 8: Repeat on the other side.

DSC_0920

Ta-da! Beautiful and very patriotic!

DSC_0923

Ready for a backyard barbeque!

French Braid Ponytails (For Short Hair)

This hairstyle is totally adorable, and feel free to make it messy and fun! And there will still be hair sticking out of the bottom, if your doll has SUPER short hair like Lindsey. But I like it that way, it’s playful.

DSC_0924

Supplies: Short-haired doll, two hair ties, a hairbrush, and a spray bottle (optional).

DSC_0925

Step 1: Part her hair down the middle and tie off one section.

DSC_0926

Step 2: Take a small section from the front.

DSC_0927

Step 3: Split it into three sections and begin French braiding.

DSC_0928

Step 4: Tie it off into a ponytail around her ear.

DSC_0930

Step 5: Repeat on the other side.

DSC_0931

Voilà! Ready to play in the sprinkler!

Dressed-Up Braid (For Any Length)

Guys, there are only three steps in this hairstyle. In fact, it probably shouldn’t even be called a hairstyle. But it’s cute, so I’m putting it in here. 🙂

DSC_0933

Supplies: Doll, hair tie (not shown), headband, spray bottle (optional).

DSC_0934

Step 1: Separate a small section of hair from the side of her head.

DSC_0935

Step 2: Braid it.

DSC_0936

Step 3: Slip on the headband, and you’re done!

I hope you enjoyed these hairstyle tutorials! If you try any, make sure to email me at americangirlsak@gmail.com with some pictures! I’d be happy to post them on my blog. Have a fabulous Independence Day!
