Spring Q&A Results!

Hey, guys! Thank you all so much for your awesome questions. I have this problem where I suck at coming up with Q&A questions, but all of yours are super creative. I have this other problem as well, where I suck at coming up with cool intros, so . . . let’s go!

My answers will be italicized.

Jo’s Questions:

Q: So, is it perpetually cold and snowy in Alaska?

A: Actually, no. It’s more like perpetually rainy and cloudy. Other states, such as Minnesota, actually get WAY more snow than us. We are having a very wet and chilly spring, though. Hoping to break 60 degrees within the next week.

Q: What’s the best thing about living in Alaska?

A: Definitely all of the nature and wildlife! You can’t get the Alaskan experience anywhere else. Everywhere you look there are mountains and beautiful trees and . . . moose and bears, too. It’s awesome!

Q: Um… and your favorite doll? 😛

A: Well, out of my dolls, probably Crystal, Grace, or Tessa. Out of all AG dolls . . . oh, it’s so hard. Out of all AG dolls ever . . . Well, I love Truly Me #24!

Ur Texan Pen Pal, A’s Questions:

Q: If you could have a superpower (such as reading minds, walking through walls, understanding any language, exedra) what would it be and what would you use it for?

A: Understand any language would be awesome . . . but then again, so would flying.

Emma’s Questions:

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

A: Same as above.

Q: If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Q: If new Beforever dolls had movies, which one would you give a movie to?

A: Ooooh, yes! Okay . . . I think Julie! I know she has a short film, but a real movie would be awesome. Rebecca would be fun, too, though!

Q: Is there a doll AG sells that you dislike?

A: Um, yeah – let’s just say all the boy dolls. Well, except for Logan. He’s okay. It’s not the actual dolls I’m against, it’s just that I think American GIRL should stick to GIRL dolls. If you have a boy doll, that’s great! I’m just not a fan of the boy dolls. From the actual girl dolls, I guess I’m not a huge fan of Nanea . . .

Q: If everything in the AG store was free for one minute, what would you grab?

A: Hmm. Probably Luciana and her clothes/accessories.

Chachel’s Questions:

Q: How long have you been collecting dolls?

A: Since 2010! Long time, IKR?

Q: What’s your bunnies name?

A: Well, I actually have three. Moe is my mini rex/Holland lop/ Jersey wooley. Penelope is Moe’s mom, and I think she’s a rex/lop mix. Molly is a bunny we adopted (off of Facebook, actually) and she looks like Penny’s twin. We aren’t sure what she is, though.

Q: Is it really really really cold in Alaska?

A:  Yes, pretty much. Actually, this year it has been a lot colder than usual. For example,  it was 54 degrees Fahrenheit today (Wednesday).

Q: What’s your favorite AG doll that you have?

A: Argh!! Why do you people always ask me these things??? Just kidding, probably Tessa.

Q: What would you name your boat if you had one?

A: Interesting question! What about “The Lady Sunset?” Since boats are girls. 🙂

Q: What’s your favorite quote?

A: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” I’m not a sports fan, but I like this quote.

Kaylyn’s Questions:

Q: If you could get another doll, which one would you get?

A: Luciana Vega.

Q: What is your favorite doll that AG has released?

A: I think McKenna. I was OBSESSED with AG in 2014, and there is a lot of sentimental value attached to McKenna for me. She got me into gymnastics, and I was a gymnast until 2016. So yeah, McKenna.

Q: What is your favorite doll etsy shop?

A: DafodilDollclothes, or Mixiepixie7’s shop!

Q: If you could only wear one outfit for a whole week without washing it or changing out of it, what would it look like?

A: First of all, that is gross and I would never do that, but if I had to . . .

Q: If you could visit anywhere on earth, where would you go?

AAG’s Questions:

Q: What’s it like being in Alaska?

A: Not surprisingly, I get this question a lot. 🙂 Alaska is awesome. It’s so naturey up here, (yes that is definitely a word), with lots of trees and pure, fresh air. The moose and bears are awesome as well. It’s a unique place, and I get a lot of comments from people in other states if I mention I live in Alaska. It’s sad thought, only 8% of Alaskans are Christians. 😦

Q: Do you have siblings?

A: Yes, I have a brother. You can read this post featuring him. 🙂 If you dare . . .

Q: Do you like Disney?

A: Not really. I am not pleased with some of the political agendas they have, and I’ve never been obsessed with the princesses either. But if you are, that’s great!

Q: Have you seen Black Panther? (WAKANDA FOREVER!)

A: Nope! And . . . not sure what Wakanda means. 🙂

Mary E.’s Questions:

Q: What is your favorite holiday?

A: Christmas!

Q: What is your favorite doll related thing you have?

A: McKenna’s gymnastics set.

Q: What is something in yourself your proud of?

A: I am great with kids! I think that comes from having a loving heart, which is inside me, so . .  .

Q: Do you like Milk?

A: Not really! (I drink it with ice cubes though . . . have any of you ever done that?)

Jaguar’s Questions:

Q: Um…Do you have any stuffed animals? (Optional)

A: I do! I keep them on my top shelf, above my dolls.

Q: If you have brothers, how do you survive?

A: I do! And I don’t. 🙂

Q: How did you convince your mother to let you have eight dolls and not have her tell you afterwards ‘it’s time’?

A: Actually, she doesn’t mind! She thinks my hobby is great, and I have bought 6/8 of the dolls with my own money.

Q: Are any of your dolls personality’s like yours?

A: Absolutely! I am a lot like Morgan and Grace. Morgan and I have compassionate hearts, and I have Grace’s sense of humor and sometimes crazy attitude. 🙂

Q: How long do you plan on blogging? (Don’t end any time soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

A: I’m not sure, maybe when I go to college?

Q: What is your favorite book of all time?

A: The Mother-Daughter Book Club series, in particular #6!

Q: What is a question that you want people to ask but they never do? (Answer the question as well)

A: Thought-provoking question .  .  . I know I have thought this way before, but I can’t think of the question. Sometimes I will hint at a story and people don’t realize I would love an invitation to tell it.

Q: What is the funniest thing a little kid has said to you?

A: Well . . . I was babysitting the other day and the little kid had his iPad at my house. He wanted to play a game on it, but didn’t know the password.  🙂 I know, right? He said, “My grandpa left this for me to play with!” I said, “But you don’t know the password.” He said, “I know, my grandpa’s a tricky guy!” He’s a preschooler, BTW.

I died. Or maybe the time he pointed to my math book and said, “Why is this here?” I replied, “Because I was doing math.” He said, “Why?”

My thought exactly, kid!

Another Q&A . . .

Me to my grandma: I need to blog.

Me to myself: Maybe I should title this post “What Should I Blog About?”

Genius self to me: A Q&A A Q&A A Q&A!!!

So. I obviously HAD to listen to myself and do another Q&A. This time around, though, instead of the questions being Alaskan themed, the questions can be about anything.

Well, I say anything, but . . .

  • Please keep your questions appropriate
  • The questions must not be personal, such as inquiries as to my real name, birthday, or Social Security number
  • You have until Monday, May 28 (Memorial Day) to question away!

Have fun with this, guys. I love Q&A’s, in case you couldn’t tell. The weirder the questions, the better!

AGs in Alaska

50 Followers Alaska Q&A Answers + Alaskan Stereotypes & Bonus Facts!

Hope’s questions:

Is it cold there? (Well duh but I want to see what they say). Lindsey: It is very cold here, indeed. But I don’t really mind! I like adventuring outside when it is in the single digits.
Do you like living there? Morgan: We love it up here in Alaska. It’s so different from everywhere else, plus when we tell people in the Lower 48 that we live in Alaska, they always love it!
Are you used to the snow, or is it still special? Tessa: Actually, it doesn’t snow here as much as people think – it’s generally just cold. We can go weeks in the winter without getting any snow. So when it does snow, it’s always a delight.

Kaylyn’s questions:

What is it like living in Alaska? Crystal: It is pretty much just like anywhere else (minus the Gucci boutiques.) There is also a lot of nature and open spaces here, which is cool for the rest of my family, but you know, heels are really not designed for hiking.
Do you have to hunt your own food like some Alaskans do on TV? Grace: Oh gosh, no. Our family does like to hunt, but there are grocery stores everywhere.
Why do you live in Alaska? Emily: AGs in Alaska’s dad works up here. Also, we’ve been here ever since AGs in Alaska was born, minus a few years.
Is it fun to live in Alaska? Molly: It’s a lot of fun to live in Alaska. There are a lot of unique opportunities to do cool things here!
Have you ever had food from a lake/sea in Alaska? (I hope that makes sense. XD) Grace: Many, many times. AGs in Alaska’s dad and brother really enjoy fishing.
Is it hard living in Alaska? Lindsey: Sometimes. It is difficult to travel and it can kind of feel secluded – not because we’re lacking people or anything, which we aren’t, but because we’re cut of from the “Outside,” as it’s called.
Can you shop a lot where you live? Crystal: YES!!!!!! There are stores everywhere. Honestly, there are so many stereotypes about Alaska: No, people do not live in igloos, yes, there is electricity, no, polar bears do not roam down the streets. Where we live in Alaska it is just like everywhere else – shops, grocery stores, museums, even our neighborhoods look EXACTLY LIKE neighborhoods in the Lower 48. Like, if I didn’t tell you we lived in Alaska and showed you a picture of our house, it could literally be anywhere.
What do you like about Alaska? Molly: We like the amazing blue sky! It is super clear here because there is less pollution.
To you, what’s a highlight about living in Alaska? Tessa: Wildlife and nature opportunities. We camp a lot!
Do you live in a log cabin in Alaska? Morgan: No. Most people with log cabins use them only as vacation homes for the weekends and in the summer.

Madison’s question:

What’s the weather like? McKenna: Winter: Cold and sometimes snowy. Also very icy. We can sometimes get “chinooks,” where it warms up and melts in the middle of the winter/right before spring. A few days later, it’s back to normal cold temperatures. Spring: Wet and rainy. Summer: Mostly rainy, some sun. Fall: Chilly and windy. We also like to joke that Alaska, like all states with snow, has a fifth season: breakup. That’s right before spring (generally in April) when the snow melts. Late October-March is winter, April-May is spring, June-August is summer, and September-Mid-October is fall. You may have heard about the Midnight Sun. That is when, in the summer, the sun is up until about 2 AM. In the winter, we get sun from about 10-6.

Ava’s questions:

Which one of you enjoy living in Alaska the most? Lindsey: ME ME ME! McKenna: No, it’s me!!! Lindsey: NO, ME!!!! McKenna: Fine. *sigh* Lindsey: Yeah, it’s me.
Do any of you wish you lived some where else? Crystal: I wish we lived in a place where I could wear heels year-round.
Emily, have you ever seen a moose? Emily: How funny! We just saw one today!

Bella’s questions:

How do you like living in Alaska? Tessa: It is fun! Very unique. Lots of nature, animals, interesting weather . . .
How is the weather in Alaska during this time of year? McKenna: It’s cold with occassional snow and not very many hours of sun.
Best thing about living in Alaska? Grace: How special it is! We have cool places to hike, camp, fish, and hunt!
Worst thing about living in Alaska? Crystal: Only three months of heels!!!!!! *sob*
Have you always lived in Alaska? Emily: Almost. We lived in the Lower 48 for a few years.
Worst thing about being a blogger in Alaska? AGs in Alaska: Honestly, there really is nothing bad about it.
Best thing about being a blogger in Alaska? AGs in Alaska: People find it very interesting where I live!
How do you live with no AG store in Alaska? (there isn’t an AG store there, is there?) Morgan: It’s tragic. We have to order online and pay ridiculous amounts of money (like $20) for shipping.
Since you live in Alaska, have you ever been to an AG store? Molly: Yes, AGs in Alaska has been to the one in Los Angeles three times.

Common Alaskan Stereotypes:

Do you have a pet polar bear? I’m sorry, since when has it been a good idea to OWN A WILD BEAR?!?!?!?!?!

Do you ride a dogsled to school? Generally only people who participate in the Iditarod (a famous Alaskan sled dog race in February/March ride dogsleds).

Do you even feel cold? Just because we live in a cold climate does not mean we are immune to freezing temperatures. People who live in New England are not immune to cold, and they get more snow than we do.

Can you see Russia from Alaska? Well, Russia and Alaska are seperated by the Bering Strait. In the middle is Big Diomede, which belongs to Russian, and Little Diomede, which belongs to the US. On a clear day, you can see Russia from Little Diomede. But that’s about it.

Why is it so cold in Alaska if you’re right by Hawaii and Mexico? Ahem.

Well, whadya know? A correctly drawn map!!! (Picture from Google.)

Hardly anyone lives in Alaska. This is a picture of downtown Anchorage, the most populated city in Alaska at over 300,000 residents (total number for AK is just over 700,000.) (Picture from Wiki.)

With all those buildings? You would think SOMEONE lives there.

That’s all for the Q&A plus bonus facts/stereotypes about Alaska! If you have any more questions, I would be more than happy to answer them.

AGs in Alaska

50th Post Q&A Answers!

Hi, everyone! You guys asked some amazing questions last Thursday when I revealed that I had reached my 50th post. Today I will be answering all of your questions. And remember, even if you didn’t get the memo that I’m doing a Q&A, feel free to ask me questions in the comments, or you can contact me at americangirlsak@gmail.com or through my contact page. 🙂

Without further ado, to the questions!

The Blog Dolly’s Questions:

Q: What made you want to start blogging?

A: Well, I first started blogging way back in 2014. I had to start a blog for my journalism class as one of my assignments. That was the last journalism class I ever went to, because it was a few days before we moved back up to Alaska. (Notice how I said “back?”) Anyway, I stil started my blog, which was a fictional story about a girl who traveled to twelve countries in one year. It actually took me two and a half years to write, though. It is one of my biggest accomplishments. When that blog was finished, I still wanted to have a blog, so I debated over what kind of blog I should start. I was going to do a pet blog, but Loren from Happy House of AG inspired me to start a doll blog instead! It kind of reignited my love for AG dolls.

Q: Who was your first subscriber?

A: Avaroo2003!

Q: And what post did you get your first subscriber on (i.e. First post, second post, third post)?

A: My fifth post.

Emma – Dazzling Dollies’s Questions:

Q: What would your dream custom look like?

I would make her out of #24 with an English Toffee wig from Beautifully Custom.

Q: Who is your biggest inspiration when it comes to blogging?

A: My best friend and other AG doll bloggers. You guys are amazing and I get so much inspiration from y’all!

Laura’s Questions:

Q: What is the first doll blog you ever read?

A: Happy House of AG.

Q: What is the best book you have ever read?

A: The first Land of Stories Book – The Wishing Spell.

Q: Do you like baseball or football better?

A: Actually, I think both of them are insanely boring to watch, but I enjoy playing baseball.

Q: Do you like pizza or ice cream better?

A: ICE CREAM!!! I LOVE ice cream. It is amazing!!! After a while, pizza just makes me sick.

Kaylyn’s Questions:

Q: What is your favorite outfit that you have dressed your AG dolls in?

A: The outfit Morgan is wearing here.

Q: What is your favorite outfit that you have sewn for your AG dolls?

A: This outfit.

Q: Have you ever gone to the AG store? (If you did describe it).

A: Yes, I have been to the AG Place in Los Angeles three times. It was AMAZING! The store is in this outdoor mall called The Grove, which you can find movie stars occassionally. (I was too young to know about any movie stars, but chances are there probably was one there when we went.) When you walk in, there’s a display of dolls and cute outfits, and further into the store is the hair salon, where you can get your doll’s hair done! Crystal had hers done in braids. Upstairs is practically a gallery of dolls; each one has a little “room” with their collection inside. There’s GOTY stuff up there too, and Bitty Baby. Here’s a picture of the first floor:

This is the only picture we have of the AG store that my face is not in. 😦

Q: What kind of camera do you use?

A: It’s a Nikon D5000.

Q: Have you ever read any AG books?

A: Yes, almost all of them.

Q: Are any of your AG dolls’ ears pierced?

A: Yes, Crystal, Morgan, and Grace all have pierced ears.

Q: What was your first AG doll that you ever got?

A: I got Crystal for my birthday quite a while ago. She was my first doll.

Q: Do you have an etsy shop?

A: Nope, no Etsy shop. I don’t even know how those things work. (Someone please help!)

Q: What are you wearing right now?

A: A blue REI shirt that’s super soft and is actually made for camping, but I’m wearing it because it’s November in Alaska, and while it’s not snowy yet, it’s COLD!!! Also, I’m wearing American Eagle jeans with a brown belt.

Q:  What did you eat for breakfast?

A: I haven’t had breakfast yet . . . I should go do that. I’m starving.

Q:What is your favorite color?

A: Purple. And then turquoise.

Q: If you had money to buy an AG doll which one would you get?

A: TrulyMe #24.

Q: What AG craft that you have made are you most proud of?

A: I made this really cool retro table out of scrapbooking paper and the cardboard tubes essential oils come in wrapped in paper. It kind of got destroyed when I did the pictures for an upcoming post. 😦

Emma’s Questions:

Q: What’s your favorite Bible verse?

A: 1 Corinthians 13:13. “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Q: What’s your favorite Bible story?

A: Um . . . I like Ruth’s story. Or at least the Veggie Tales version.

Q: What is the most exciting thing that ever happened to you?

A: Well, at the ripe old age of eight, my family moved from AK to the Lower 48. That didn’t last very long, and we moved back up here. In the meantime, my BFF moved to the other end of the Lower 48 as well, but the summer we moved back she came for a visit. Halfway through her visit, her parents told her she was moving back to Alaska! It was a surprise for both of us, and we were ecstatic!

Q: What’s your favorite holiday?

A: CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q: Are you most like your mom or your dad?

A: I’m not super like either of them. If I really had to choose, it would be my mom, but I have a lot of interests she doesn’t have.

Q: What are your 3 most favorite hobbies?

A: Read. Write. Blog. Repeat.

AG Doll Dreams’ Questions:

Q: If you could buy any AG doll, current or retired, who would it be?

A: TrulyMe #24. She’s gorgeous.

Q: Who is your favorite AG pet?

A: I really like Bonbon and Chocolate Chip. But the dalmation is pretty cute too.

Q: What is your opinion on Logan?

A: I DO NOT LIKE that AG has a boy doll. I feel like the words American “Girl” doll have been compromised. I just doesn’t sit well with me. I think they should have stuck to girl dolls.

Chris’ Questions:

Q: Big dogs or little dogs?

A: Little dogs are easier to snuggle with, but big dogs generally don’t bark as much. At least, in my experience, they don’t.

Q: Beach or mountains for vacation?

A: Beach.

Sophia!! :)’s Questions:

Q: Beforever/Historical or GOTY?

A: This is a really hard question. I loved the GOTYs up until this year, so I’ll have to go with them. But Samantha is GORGEOUS.

Q: Limo or Race car?

A: Definitely limo!

Q: What is nurses run backwards?

A: Nurses run . . . oh, that’s funny! 🙂

Natalie’s Questions:

Q: Favorite AG Mini?

A: Tenney is pretty cute. Also Kit.

Q: Favorite ice cream flavor?

A: French Vanilla all the way. Did you know that was Thomas Jefferson’s favorite flavor, too?

Q: What’s your favorite thing about your blog? (I.E. your design, your header, your posting schedule)

A: My favorite thing about the actual blog is the color scheme, but my favorite thing about having a blog is the comments. I LOVE your comments, guys. I get SUPER excited when I see them in my notifications bar and my email account. I smile every time I read them. 🙂

Bella’s Questions:

Q: What is your favorite YouTube channel?

A: For AGTube, that would be Mixiepixie7. For humans, that would be Studio C. (Who here likes Studio C???)

Q: How did you discover AG dolls?

A: The memories are foggy. I think my great-aunt got me a catalog and I found the website and played lots of games on it. 🙂

Q: What is the next doll that you want?

A: I would like #24. Or Tenney.

Q: Which Wellie Wisher is your favorite?

A: Willa is totally adorbs. 🙂

Q: Who is your favorite GOTY?

A: Grace, but McKenna is a close second.

Avaroo2003’s Questions:

Q: What is your favorite plant?

A: I like bleeding hearts. I know that’s a flower, sorry. But if you want me to name a plant plant, I like those cacti that have the bright red bulbs on top.

Q: Do you like dragonflies?

A: They’re pretty cool. I think they’re a bit frightening when they’re buzzing around your head, but they’re cool.

Q: If you could be any plant or animal, (other than a human being) what would you be?
A: I think it would be cool to be a dog. I wouldn’t have so much schoolwork – none, actually! 🙂
Q: What is your favorite planet?
A: Saturn. 🙂
Q: Do you have a favorite constellation? If so, which one?
A: I think the Gemini constellation is pretty cool. But I recently saw the Big Dipper while we were camping SUPER close because the stars were ridiculously bright, and I love that one too.

Okay, that’s all the questions! Thank you guys so, so much for helping me celebrate my 50th post!

-AGs in Alaska-

My 50th Post – Q&A!

Hello, lovely readers! Today is a very, very special occassion. This is my 50th post!

(cheers, confetti, balloons, chocolate)

Before we get to the exciting part of this post, I want to say thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you to all of my fabulous readers and subscribers. I probably wouldn’t still be blogging if it weren’t for you. You guys are amazing!!! You have no idea what it means to me to read your sweet comments and know that you are supporting my blogging efforts.

And now for the announcement!

For my 50th post, I’m doing a Q&A! 🙂 🙂 🙂

This wasn’t my original idea. My original idea was a lot more complicated, and with NaNoWriMo and scheduling my posts, I didn’t have the time to do what I wanted to – so I’m saving that for later. Maybe for my 50 subscribers post – so if you haven’t subscribed to my blog already (and you feel that my  blog is subscription-worthy), please do so.

Now, here are the rules for the Q&A:

  • You can ask as many questions as you want.
  • The questions must not be creepy, inappropriate, or personal (i.e., my name or address).
  • You only have until November 8th to ask me questions. I will be answering your queries on my Monday, November 9th post.

Now, I did not publish a post on Monday because if I had, this would be my 51st post, instead of my 50th. That’s why.

Okay, that’s all! Please question away! I can’t wait to see what questions you come up with.

And once again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
