Flower Girl (A Photoshoot) + A New Poll

Hey, guys! Long time no see!

My family is finally back from Europe, and if you haven’t been following our adventures on my personal blog, you can check it out right here!

Anyway, I’ve really been missing doll blogging recently. I would really love to know if you guys have any suggestions or ideas (realizes she did a poll in February and is still about to announce a new one). While I do blog for my own amusement, I absolutely want to know what type of content you want to see on AGIA.

Scroll to the end for the poll, but otherwise, enjoy some new pictures of Emily!

That’s all for now, guys . . . until next time!

I Wish it Was Summer (A Photoshoot)

Snow. Ice. It’s melting, you guys.

As an Alaskan, this is a very big deal. There is heat to the sun, and actual patches of grass and cement with NO snow or ice on it!

*screams excitedly*

In honor of pre-breakup (the season between winter and breakup – breakup being the season between winter and spring in which snow melts, everything turns to mud, and the air constantly smells like dog pee), I decided to post some pictures of Molly I took back in September.

Enjoy!

So I realized I’ve filled up 99.7% of my WordPress storage – any suggestions as to what I should do about that, guys?

Have a great Spring Break, if that’s next week for you like it is for me! (ONE MORE QUARTER, GUYS. ONE MORE QUARTER.)

Luci On The Deck (A Photoshoot)

Yay! Luci’s first photoshoot!

Luci is a gorgeous doll and her meet outfit is ADORABLE. Guys, I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve had her for a MONTH already and I haven’t taken her out of her meet outfit.

Now, let’s get onto the photoshoot!

I thought that the flowers on the deck coordinated with her dress so nicely. Flowers are super fun to photograph, don’t you agree?

You can see that Luci’s eyes have that downward tilt that is supposedly an AG glitch, but I think it gives her nice character.

Which picture is your favorite? Do you have Luciana? Do you like flower photography, too? What do you think of Luci’s eyes?

A Summer Photoshoot, Take 2

Hey guys, happy Sunday! I have a fun new photoshoot for you today. But first, do you remember this one? I did it last summer, and it was so fun that I decided to do it AGAIN – but with a different doll. I hope you enjoy!

Patriotic Photography – A Collab With Chachel @ Wild Sketch

Patriotic Photography

Happy Independence Day, everyone! Today is one of my favorite holidays for several reasons – food, family, fun, freedom – and photography!

That’s why I’m teaming up with Chachel from her awesome art blog, Wild Sketch! Chachel, also known as Rachel, does amazing DIY tutorials, shows her beautiful artwork, and posts pictures of her adorable cat, Gosha. Go follow her lovely blog right now!

It’s actually kind of funny. My first photoshoot was a 4th of July photoshoot I did last year, and here I am with another one. Kind of sentimental, when you think about it!

Chachel and I decided that for our collab, we would take patriotic pictures for the 4th. I dressed up my dolls in red white and blue outfits and took them into the backyard for a patriotic photoshoot. Here you go!

And . . . I’m Back!

Helloooooo, world! I’m ecstatic to be back on my blog! It’s been a great hiatus, I got the break I needed and accomplished a TON of stuff. Here’s a list, so you don’t think I was sitting around binge-watching Stranger Things. (Kidding, I don’t watch that show.)

I . . .

  • Helped out at a language-immersion camp
  • Volunteered at not one, but two Vacation Bible Schools!
  • Reorganized my room
  • Color-coordinated my bookshelf (inspired by Sam from Redhead With A Book)
  • Went on an awesome camping trip with my friends
  • Worked on a collab with another awesome blogger (more on that later!)
  • Did quite a bit of babysitting
  • Welcomed two new additions to my family (no, they’re not babies. Again, more on that later).

So, as you can see, I was quite busy. I feel like it’s been months, instead of less than three weeks.

This summer has been awesome so far. There are a lot of fun things happened up here in Alaska for me, and I’m not going to be any less busy than I was during my hiatus. But I just couldn’t leave you guys for very long. 🙂

Here’s a sneak peak of epic posts coming up soon:

  • Two collab posts
  • Lindsey’s Revenge (A Photostory)
  • Part 3 of The Trials of Tessa (I have learned through trying and failing to do photoseries that I am absolutely awful at them)
  • Review of Tenney’s Spotlight Outfit
  • Family Pictures (A Photostory)
  • A Summer Photoshoot, Take 2 (A Photoshoot, obviously)
  • And much, much more! (Now, if only I could find my post calendar . . .)

Like I said at the beginning of this post, I’m soooo happy to be back! I’ve missed you guys. 🙂

Morgan Goes Camping (A Photostory)

“Come on, Chocolate Chip. Let’s go for a walk.”

Chocolate Chip barks in agreement. We set off down the dirt path.

Chocolate Chip and I are camping this weekend.

Suddenly, Chocolate darts off down the path. “Chocolate! Get back here right now!”

Chocolate ignores me.

He races up to the base of a tree. “Whatdya see, boy?”

img_0010

“Is there a squirrel up there?” I ask him.

img_0011

Suddenly, Chocolate takes off down the path. I race to catch up with him.

img_0012

He leads me to the base of a ginormous tree.

img_0013

I sit down. Chocolate Chip tries to jump up on my lap. I look up at the tree. It’s perfect for climbing.

img_0015

“I’m going to climb this tree!” I tell Chocolate.

img_0016

I grip the base of the tree tightly. One, two, three!

img_0017

I hoist myself up onto the branch above the base. Whoa!

img_0018

I glance around for the next branch to climb up on.

img_0019

I clamber upwards, not daring to look down.

img_0020

Suddenly, I lose my footing on the branch. “Ahhhhh! Chocolate, heeeeeeelp!”

img_0022

I tumble down onto the ground. “Owwwwwww.” Chocolate Chip comes over to sniff me and make sure I’m all right.

img_0023

I stand up, checking for broken bones. I appear to be all right. “Let’s get back to camp, boy.”

img_0025

Chocolate and I set off down the path. I’m not going to try tree-climbing again any time soon!

img_0026-1

Did ya like it? Huh? Huh? HUH?

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

This is my last post with pictures I took using an iPad. I actually took these pictures back in late August, so there was no snow on the ground. Did you catch that?

There’s someone else who caught something in blog that shouldn’t have been there . . . Dimond, from worldofagdolls.blogspot.com! In my last photostory, Crystal’s hair was braided when she “woke up,” but not when she woke up for real. That’s because I did not plan those pictures very well. Anyway, congratulations, Dimond! Everyone, please check out her blog!

Also, kinda-sorta big announcement. I am leaving for vacation tomorrow morning (well, if 1 AM is morning). I will still be replying to comments and stuff, just not as often. I am so excited! Wish me luck!

Who Wore it Best? Winner!!!

Last week I asked you guys to vote on which doll you think wore this outfit best:

IMG_2695IMG_2697IMG_2698In case you don’t remember, which I’m sure (at least, I hope) you all do, I sewed that dress myself. The leggings are indeed American Girl leggings, from McKenna’s School Outfit.

Now, let’s get down to business. I am pleased to announce that the winner of American Girls in Alaska’s first-ever Who Wore it Best? competition has been determined. It’s . . .

Drumroll please!

McKenna! She’s the doll on the top, just FYI. Oh, whatever. I’ll show her picture again.

IMG_2695

McKenna sends her heartfelt thanks to all of you who voted for her, which was four of you! Morgan was a close second (she’s the doll in the middle) with three votes. Emily, the doll on the bottom, received no votes, which is why she is pouting in her bedroom. Boo-hoo.

Anyways, thanks so much for voting! I received quite a few comments on this post, actually. I think we broke a record. You guys are amazing! Catch you on Thursday!

The Great Solar Eclipse Photostory

It’s August 21, 2017. An ordinary Monday, but then again, not really. Today is the day that the first total solar eclipse from coast-to-coast in the United States since 1979 will be happening. And the next one is in just seven years, which is very soon, considering total solar eclipses are usually far apart.

Lindsey and I are going to be viewing the eclipse from our neighborhood park. We won’t be able to see the entire eclipse, since we’re in Alaska, but we’ll be able to see part of it. The moon will come in from the right, cover the right side, then cover the bottom, and then  sink before covering the left side. Like this:

canvas 2

And with our special glasses, we’ll be able to look directly at the sun! But not for more than a minute at a time – we have to rest our eyes so they don’t get damaged.

IMG_2656

In addition to loving animals, I’m also interested in the solar system and eclipses and the stars and things like that. This is a big day for me.

“The eclipse should be starting any minute now,” Lindsey tells me. “I guess we can put our glasses on.”

IMG_2659

I slip mine over my glasses and look up at the sun. The moon isn’t covering it yet, so it just looks like a bright, round ball up in the sky. I avert my eyes so they don’t get hurt. I don’t want to spend too much time looking up at the sun when the eclipse isn’t even happening here yet.

IMG_2660

A couple minutes later, Lindsey and I look back up. I gasp.

IMG_2661

I can see the edge of the moon covering the sun!

“Wow!” Lindsey shrieks. That’s awesome!

IMG_2662 2

Chocolate Chip barks up at the sky. Lindsey and I grin at each other and laugh.

IMG_2663 2

IMG_2664 2

After resting our eyes again, we look back up. Even more of the moon is covering the sun, making the sun look like the moon at night, like roles were reversed.

“That is so cool,” I say. I’ll never forget this day, or the amazing eclipse. Seven years from now, I’ll look up at the next total eclipse and remember this one.

IMG_2666

Half an hour goes by, with Lindsey and I periodically checking the sun. It’s now at its peak for Alaska. The right side is almost completely covered.

Another hour later, I sigh regretfully as the moon slips under the sun, revealing the glowing ball of bright gas. “It’s over.”

IMG_2667

“Yeah, but don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened,” Lindsey reminds me, quoting Dr. Seuss. “And you were smiling a lot.”

IMG_2658

This makes me grin. Lindsey and I start packing up our stuff.

IMG_2669 2

“Hey, Lindsey,” I say. “Do you want to watch the next eclipse with me?”

IMG_2668

Lindsey laughs. “It’s not for seven years!”

IMG_2671 2

“I know,” I say. “But do you?”

IMG_2672 2

Lindsey doesn’t hesitate. “Of course.”

IMG_2670

And we head for home.

IMG_2675 2

How did you guys like that photostory? Unfortunately, it’s not as cool as I would like it to be, because a) I took the pictures with my mom’s iPad, b) it was raining,  c) I felt very pressured for time because I didn’t want to get the iPad very wet, and d) the dolls are wet in the pictures. So there you have it. I promise my next photostory will be better.

However, I’m glad my first one could be about such a memorable day. Did you guys watch the eclipse? If so, what was it like for you? It was too rainy here to see it, so we watched it on TV.

Morgan’s Guide to Viewing the 8/21/17 Total Solar Eclipse

Hi, everybody! It’s me, Morgan. I bet y’all are excited for tomorrow, huh?

What?

What am I talking about?

I’m talking about the total solar eclipse, sillies! It’s starting in 14 hours, after all! So I’m here to present you with Morgan’s Guide to Viewing the 8/21/17 Total Solar Eclipse.

Do:

  • Wear your official eclipse viewing glasses
  • Take breaks ever minute or so from looking at the sun
  • Use a special solar filter on your camera when taking pictures of the eclipse
  • Inspect all solar filters
  • Look away from the sun when taking your glasses off.

Don’t:

  • Use homemade eclipse viewing glasses or any sunglasses (even very dark ones) as they are not enough to protect your eyes
  • Stare directly at the sun with no glasses. Many people will go blind tomorrow from looking at the sun with no glasses. 😦 😦 😦
  • Look at the eclipse directly with no special glasses unless you are in the path of totality (where the moon will completely cover the sun) and the eclipse is at its peak.

That’s all I have for now! A cool new post is coming out tomorrow!

And BTW, AGs in Alaska is not responsible for any damage caused to you because of tips found on this blog. All information is from eclipse2017.nasa.gov.

If you want to learn more about eclipses, read Every Soul a Star by Wendy Mass. It’s a fictional book, but has a lot of great information about eclipses. In fact, in the back of the book (published in 2009), it talked about the next total eclipse occurring on 8/21/17. I read Every Soul a Star a few years ago and thought it was cool that an eclipse was coming up – and now Lindsey and I have plans to go watch it tomorrow!
