The Customization of Tessa Elizabeth

Hello, everyone! I want to give a HUGE thank-you to everyone who took my poll. It is super helpful for me to know what YOU GUYS want to see. And, according to what you told me, y’all want more photostories/photoshoots and Day in The Life!

Also, I know what you’re thinking – when exactly is Tessa going to make an appearance on your blog?

Let me explain – when I got Tessa, I knew that I would have to do Travels With Grace and catch up on stuff like Day in The Life before I could let her star on my blog. I am really, really excited for today’s post – the customization of Tessa Elizabeth!!!

I did a VERY INCOMPLETE customization photo process, but I was so excited about getting Tessa and customizing her that I didn’t really do a very good job of taking photos along the way. But what I have is here. 🙂

Now, right before we move on to something much more exciting than announcements and stuff, I want to give a big shoutout to Elysium (formerly known as Avaroo2003 from Ava’s Pokémon Blog), who started an epic new blog you can check out right here. It’s called An Author’s Odyssey, and Elysium posts these super amazing writing prompts that you guys can use. I have started to do it, and it is A TON of fun. Now, onto the Customization of Tessa Elizabeth!!!!

So . . . our story starts off with a box.

A box I cannot show you a picture of because I stupidly did not cover up our address with a card and you can now see where we live and I’m too lazy to install the Flash plugin so I can edit the picture because I am a very mysterious person.

AHHHHHHHHHH IT’S A HEAD!!!!!!!!!

This is Tessa’s hair . . . pre-customization.

Hope I’m not freaking y’all out with this! If you’re not already disgusted . . . funny story!

So we (my mom and I) have a doll head and a doll body. Why not have a little fun?

My mom as my dad is pulling out of the driveway: Holds doll body up to window, makes arm wave.

In case you couldn’t tell, this photo has been majorly cropped so you can’t see all of the baby photos on our back wall.

But now you know that my hair is brown! Big clue as to finding out my true identity. Hey, you have now eliminated half the world population!

I will save you the stunningly gorgeous picture of Tessa as she has pins sticking out of her head as the wig’s glue dries. Instead . . . the finished product!!!

Create Your Own Released + Name That Doll!

Hi! My last post was about Create Your Own dolls, American Girl’s new type of doll. They’re a lot like TrulyMe dolls, except you can customize the doll exactly the way you want her, from eye color to hair color to skin tone and even face shape!

Create Your Own were released yesterday and I went online to the American Girl doll website and created my own doll. This is what she looks like:

 

Isn’t she cute? I’m not actually going to be getting her, considering I already have a doll (Crystal) who looks almost exactly like me already, and I cannot justify the $200 price of buying a Create Your Own. But I l-o-v-e the idea!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

I decided that this doll needs a name – and what better way to do that than a Name That Doll contest?

This time, you guys get to come up with your own names instead of voting. Post your name ideas in the description, and on August 16th I’ll pick the name I like best. Winner gets bragging rights! So what are you still waiting for? I want ideas!!!

Breaking News!!!

Okay, well I don’t really know if this is breaking news, but I just found out the COOLEST THING EVER when I was on the AG website.

Coming soon, YOU can create your own, completely personalized doll! I mean completely customized! Take a look:

They’re called Create Your Own dolls. I love this idea so much!!! In addition to creating your own doll, you can also make your own outfit for the doll, plus you get a Create Your Own tee-shirt, personalized keepsake doll box, and a 6-month subscription to the AG magazine!

Plus, it ships free. Probably not including Alaska and Hawaii.

I have a theory about why American Girl is doing this. I watched a YouTube video where a girl called AG and asked what they thought about customizing AG dolls (not like the Create Your Owns, but buying wigs and changing their eyes and stuff), and they said the dolls aren’t meant to be customized. That’s probably also the reason the dolls come with zip ties, not strings, so you can’t take their heads off to customize. Now they’re offering dolls you can make to look just like you, and charging nearly a hundred dollars more than the regular TrulyMe dolls.

Anyway, I love these dolls so much! Now girls who don’t have a TrulyMe who looks just like them can finally have their own! Way to go, American Girl!!!!
