Review of Luciana’s Flight Suit

Hey guys! I hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend. Whilst I was writing my review of Tenney’s Spotlight Outfit, I realized how much I love writing reviews. I recently purchased Luciana’s Flight Suit for a project I am doing and decided to do a review on it.

You can buy the outfit here.

All pictures from American Girl.

FMC73_Lucianas_Flight_Suit_1

The outfit is adorable, needless to say. It is a one-piece blue jumpsuit that zips all the way up to her neck. As you can probably imagine, the suit is a bit difficult to get on the doll. It took me a couple of minutes to put it on her. It is tight, which makes the doll unable to sit up straight in the jumpsuit.

FMC73_Lucianas_Flight_Suit_3

This outfit is made of high-quality material, which I was extremely pleased with. I was a bit nervous when I opened it for fear of finding and outfit made with cheap fabric, but I was actually very happy. The shoes are ADORABLE and very simple, so they will go well with other outfits.

FMC73_Lucianas_Flight_Suit_4

The jumpsuit has several patches on it. There is a “Space Camp” patch, a “Space & Rocket Center” patch, and a patch that has Luciana’s name on it. The patches are not made of . . . whatever real patches are made of. Thread? Anyway, they are more like iron-on stickers, minus the smooth sticker feel.

FMC73_Lucianas_Flight_Suit_6

On the right arm, there is a “Mars” sticker and a “NASA” sticker. On the left arm there is an American flag patch (not shown).

Overall, I give this outfit a 4/5. My only complains are that it is difficult to get on the doll, and she can’t sit down in it. Other than that, I was impressed by the high quality of material that AG chose for this outfit. I highly recommend it if you like NASA-related things. 🙂

Have a great weekend!

A Summer Photoshoot, Take 2

Hey guys, happy Sunday! I have a fun new photoshoot for you today. But first, do you remember this one? I did it last summer, and it was so fun that I decided to do it AGAIN – but with a different doll. I hope you enjoy!

The Customization of Tessa Elizabeth

Hello, everyone! I want to give a HUGE thank-you to everyone who took my poll. It is super helpful for me to know what YOU GUYS want to see. And, according to what you told me, y’all want more photostories/photoshoots and Day in The Life!

Happy to oblige.

Also, I know what you’re thinking – when exactly is Tessa going to make an appearance on your blog?

Let me explain – when I got Tessa, I knew that I would have to do Travels With Grace and catch up on stuff like Day in The Life before I could let her star on my blog. I am really, really excited for today’s post – the customization of Tessa Elizabeth!!!

I did a VERY INCOMPLETE customization photo process, but I was so excited about getting Tessa and customizing her that I didn’t really do a very good job of taking photos along the way. But what I have is here. 🙂

Now, right before we move on to something much more exciting than announcements and stuff, I want to give a big shoutout to Elysium (formerly known as Avaroo2003 from Ava’s Pokémon Blog), who started an epic new blog you can check out right here. It’s called An Author’s Odyssey, and Elysium posts these super amazing writing prompts that you guys can use. I have started to do it, and it is A TON of fun. I strongly encourage you guys to go check it out, follow, and participate!

Now, onto the Customization of Tessa Elizabeth!!!!

(Note: There may or may not be photos of disembodied dolls. Proceed with caution.)

So . . . our story starts off with a box.

A box I cannot show you a picture of because I stupidly did not cover up our address with a card and you can now see where we live and I’m too lazy to install the Flash plugin so I can edit the picture because I am a very mysterious person.

DSC_0328

Ths is what the box looked liked after I opened it.

(Best. Photo description. Ever.)

AHHHHHHHHHH IT’S A HEAD!!!!!!!!!

This is Tessa’s hair . . . pre-customization.

DSC_0376

Hope I’m not freaking y’all out with this! If you’re not already disgusted . . . funny story!

So we (my mom and I) have a doll head and a doll body. Why not have a little fun?

My mom as my dad is pulling out of the driveway: Holds doll body up to window, makes arm wave.

My dad pulling out of the driveaway: Does not notice.

Me: Laughing hysterically.

IMG_0077

In case you couldn’t tell, this photo has been majorly cropped so you can’t see all of the baby photos on our back wall.

But now you know that my hair is brown! Big clue as to finding out my true identity. Hey, you have now eliminated half the world population!

Before gluing it on . . . BTW, how do you spell gluing? Is it glueing?

I will save you the stunningly gorgeous picture of Tessa as she has pins sticking out of her head as the wig’s glue dries. Instead . . . the finished product!!!

Tessa Elizabeth, my very first custom!

I hope you guys enjoyed that little Behind The Scenes view into my messy house process of creating a custom doll. I will see you all on Wednesday for my Valetine’s Day post!

Travels With Grace #1: Washington

Hello, everyone! Do you remember when I went on vacation for Thanksgiving? Well, I took a lot of pictures of Grace on that trip, if you know what I mean . . .

?

?

?

Okay, fine, I’ll tell you. I am doing a series with Grace and her adventures with her cousins – my cousins’ dolls – in Washington State!

Since I am back to my old posting schedule – Mondays and Thursdays – I will be posting the next three-five parts each Thursday. That way, I can still do photostories and photoshoots and everything but I will be able to do this too.

Here we go – Travels With Grace #1!

DSC_0143

Hey there, y’all! It’s Grace here. Guess what? Amazing news – AGs in Alaska is taking ME on a trip with her to Washington State!!! Isn’t that I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E????

In honor of the upcoming trip, I will be doing a how-to-pack tutorial!

DSC_0144

Here are the shirts I will be taking. Since I always need to look my best, I have one for every day of the trip.

DSC_0145

But AGs in Alaska pulled the plug on pants. I am only allowed to bring two pairs of leggings and a skirt!!! Isn’t that ridiculous???? Fortunately, my awesome cousins (you’ll meet them later) will be willing to share.

DSC_0146

Aren’t these pants chic?

DSC_0147

These are my shoes!! #Rockingit

DSC_0148

My Parisian pajamas! Ooh-la-la!

DSC_0149

Everything will go into these bags, which AGs in Alaska will pack in her suitcase for me.

AGs in Alaska: To make sure you aren’t smuggling anything.

Grace: Hey!

DSC_0150

However, my carry-on items will go in this here bag!

DSC_0152

I have my passport, some money, my boarding pass already printed out, a camera, and an AG magazine for the plane!

DSC_0153

All packed and ready to go!!!! I will be back next week with Travels With Grace #2!

Au revoir!

Grace

P.S. A big shout-out goes to Jenna, who is putting my ad up on her blog! Thank you Jenna! If you haven’t already read Jenna’s blog, go check it out!

P.P.S. I’ve been thinking about revealing my name later this year. I thought it might be fun if you guys guessed what my name is, and maybe what I look like. If you have any ideas, comment below!

Thoughts on Luciana

Why, hello there! Happy 2018! I hope you guys are all recovering from staying up until midnight, or one in the morning, in my case.

I am SO excited to be doing this opinions post on Luciana Vega, GOTY 2018. Let me just tell you that I am WAAAAAAY happier with this year’s GOTY than I was with Gabriela. AG did a MUCH better job this time around, and I am very, very pleased.

All pictures are from American Girl.

FMR54_Luciana_Doll_and_Book_1

First of all, let’s talk about the doll itself. I like her face mold. It seems a bit different from the standard AG face mold. Her eyes are beautiful, as well as her hair. It’s so glossy and I love the side bangs! And the purple . . . LOVE THE PURPLE. In case you don’t know already, purple is my favorite color. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I don’t totally love her necklace, and her shoes are okay. But her dress is ADORABLE. I AM IN LOVE WITH IT!!!! I like the length as some AG dresses are a bit short. But when I saw Luciana’s meet dress, I was like, “Ahhh! It’s so cute!!!”

Note quite sure about the red bag. I don’t really care for it. I like her book cover, though.

FMC77_Lucianas_Visitor_Center_Accessories_1

Luciana’s visitor center accessories are pretty cool-looking. I like the doll-sized Nasa shirt. The bag is very detailed. The bookmark and pamphlet are adorable, as well as the passport. And I really like the book! The astronaut kind of freaks me out, though . . .

FMC78_Lucianas_Robotic_Dog_1

The robot dog. Hmm. I don’t love the pink (there seems to be a bit too much pink in this collection), but the dog is fitting for a space/technology-oriented doll. It doesn’t look like it’s very high quality, but it is pretty cool that it moves (plus the tail wags, which is awesome).

FMC79_Lucianas_Telescope_Projector_Set_1

Luciana’s telescope and blanket are adorable. I don’t like how the telescope is pink. I feel like blue would have been a better choice. But the blanket is SO CUTE!!!! I’m not quite sure why they’re charging FORTY DOLLARS for this set. That seems outrageously overpriced, but then again, AG prices have been going up.

FMC76_Lucianas_Accessories_1

Luciana’s accessories are pretty neat. The backpack design is pretty cool. The smart watch looks cheap, even from the picture. The ice cream is awesome. Not much to say about the other accessories.

FMC72_Lucianas_PJs_Dolls_1

Her pajamas are ADORABLE!!! The shirt says “To the moon and back,” which is awesome.  I like how it comes down further than most AG pajama tops. The pants are amazing. I don’t like the slippers very much, but overall I like it a lot!

FMC73_Lucianas_Flight_Suit_1

I think this is totally adorable. Luciana looks so sweet in it!!! At first I was confused as to why a doll would have a space training suit, but then I realized that she goes to space camp so it makes sense. I think this is a really great outfit.

FMC74_Lucianas_Steller_Outfit_1

I don’t really care for the jacket in this outfit. Green is not a favorite color of mine, but I think the shoes and top are amazing. The shorts do not look like they are very high quality.

FMC80_Mars_Habitat_1

Her Mars habitat looks very, very detailed. But THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am outraged at this price. It is HUGE, for something this size. No way. It even looks plasticky from the picture. The stairs look like they would break instantly. The headset is cute, but no way am I getting this.

Overall, I think AG did a spectacular job with Luciana’s collection, except for the ridiuclous pricing and too much pink stuff. I would like to get Luciana, but . . . I don’t know.

What do you think of Luciana? I would love to chat in the comments!

Twelve Days of Christmas, Day #10: Christmas is . . . Holiday Hairstyles

Day #10???? Say what now?????

Yep! It’s Day #10 of TDOC here on American Girls in Alaska. Today I will be doing my first ever hair tutorial! I will be showing you two cute holiday hairstyles, as modeled by Grace and Emily!

Style #1: Flipped Braid Bun

Step 1: Braid your doll’s hair.

DSC_0520

Step 2: Grab the braid by the end and pull it up. (My mom is holding it here, Grace’s hair is not floating.) 🙂

DSC_0521

Step 3: Tuck the elastic part under the braid.

DSC_0522

Step 4: Bobby pin the braid so that it stucks to the doll’s head.

DSC_0523

Ta-da! Simple and chic!

DSC_0524

DSC_0525

Hairstyle #2: French Twist Braid

Step 1: Seperate a small section of hair from the doll’s head.

DSC_0526

Step 2: Seperate that section in two.

DSC_0527

Step 3: Cross the left section over the right section.

DSC_0528

Step 4: This is a bit hard to explain, but you’re going to take hair from the rest of the doll’s head and add it to the the section on the left (the one that is hanging down).

DSC_0529

Step 5: (Sorry, this one is a little blurry.) Pull the left section over the right one. (Like you’re twisting it, which is technically what you are doing.)

DSC_0530

Step 6: Continue to grab hair and add it to the section hanging down before twisting that section over. If you know how to French braid, this should be very simple.

DSC_0531

DSC_0533

Sadly, my picture of the side of her hair would not upload, but it looked really cool! 😊

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you try these styles, send pictures to americangirlsak@gmail.com!

Just a friendly reminder, tomorrow is the last day to enter my giveaway. 🙂

Day #9 already!?!? Can you believe it?!?! I can’t wait for Christmas!!!

And, in the spirit of the season, I did an ice skating photoshoot of Molly! If you like this photoshoot, check out AG Doll Adventure’s ice skating photoshoot here. Coincidentally, we did ours on the same day!

Did you like it? I wrote the poem about a month ago, but I never realized how well it would fit with this photoshoot.

Quick story, when I was skating, there was this boy there who was like, “Mom, there’s this girl taking pictures of her doll.” Why is it that people don’t think that dolls are for bigger girls, too??? Amiright???

See you all tomorrow!

Countdown to Christmas: Three days!

Twelve Days of Christmas, Day #8: Christmas is . . . Charity

Okay, everyone! It’s time for Day #8 of TDOC! I can’t wait for this one!

DSC_0464

“Hey, everyone, it’s Emily. I’m breaking out of my shell today to lead TDOC Day #8. Why? This post is about a topic that is very important to me!”

“Some of you may know about Operation Christmas Child (I’ll call it OCC for short). OCC is a great organization led by Samaritan’s Purse that gets shoeboxes full of little presents to children in foreign countries. Some of these children are very poor, and the shoebox you pack and send to them may be the only present they get on Christmas. Today, I will be showing you how to pack your shoebox.”

DSC_0466

“You can pick up your OCC shoebox at places like your church. At this time of year, it is too late to do an OCC shoebox, but this may be helpful for next Christmas.”

“When you pack your shoebox, make sure to include a “wow” item. My “wow” item is this cute flower purse. Then, you can pack the rest of the box with personal care items, or smaller toys. I am including a box, a pencil, some hair accessories, and a comfy pillow.”

“However, do not pack candy; toothpaste; gum; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans. This information has been taken from the Samaritan’s Purse website.”

DSC_0470

“Now, pack your shoebox!”

DSC_0472

“My box is all packed!”

DSC_0473

“Once your box is packed, take it to an official drop-off location. You can find the locations here.”

DSC_0474

“Remember, this shoebox may be the only present a child in a foreign country gets for Christmas. Do you part and help make a child’s Christmas special!”

“Alright, that’s all for now. My sister will be back tomorrow with a super-cute photoshoot!”

Hey, everyone, it’s AGs in Alaska. I just wanted to let everyone know that I did not mean to offend anyone with my giveaway rules post. I hope no one thought I sounded too harsh, I promise I was just trying to make sure everyone who wanted to enter could get the chance to. I am super excited for the giveaway, and I want as many people as possible to enter! So I’m very sorry if I offended you. 😊

See you all tomorrow!
